HELLO!

Miss. Sam, MT-BC (Music Therapist)
I’m Sam Sloane, the owner of Healing Waves Music and a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) based in Long Island, NY. I graduated from Molloy University and am currently pursuing my master's in Music Therapy, with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.
My primary instruments include voice, piano, and clarinet; guitar is a secondary instrument. I utilize a wide variety of instruments during music therapy sessions. I've worked with a variety of populations, ranging from early childhood to geriatric, in inpatient psychiatric units. I began teaching beginner piano to 4–8-year-old children in 2022 and have been providing music therapy for the past 4 years, working with clients aged 7-26.
I believe in using adaptive lessons that provide the least restrictive environment while also promoting a child’s growth by helping them become the best they can be. During lessons, I support clients in areas related to confidence and development and create an environment that fosters overall enjoyment of music through curriculum-based and songwriting-focused lessons. My mission is to create a safe musical environment that allows for freedom of expression whilst promoting positive growth for the client.
Client well-being is my number one priority, and I go above and beyond to help them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

Miss. Kat, MT-BC (Music Therapist)
I’m Kat A., the assistant director of Healing Waves Music and a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) based in NY. I am a graduate of Molloy University and also a proud agriculturalist.
My primary instrument is my voice, and I also utilize a wide variety of instruments during music therapy sessions. I've had the pleasure of working with a wide range of populations from toddlers to seniors, in private and public settings, with a variety of abilities.
I work from a holistic and humanistic perspective. In my work, the relationship formed with the client is the vehicle for therapy. I am dedicated to getting to know my clients' inner worlds: musical and emotional. Whether we are in therapy sessions or lessons, I am dedicated to furthering my clients’ well-being and helping them reach their goals.
As Sam said, client well-being is my number one priority, and I go above and beyond to help them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals!
